What's happening to the Navy I remember and love?

Recent events in USS ENTERPRISE (CVN 65) and the number of Naval Officers that have been relieved of late has me questioning what we're teaching to and accepting from those who are the up-and-coming of our society. Last week the CO of ENTERPRISE, CAPT Honors (ironic) was relieved because his admiral lost confidence in that officer's judgement and ability to command. It all stemmed from some videos Honors produced while serving as XO in the same ship that were intended to boost morale and shown over the ship's closed circuit TV system. They are nothing short of vulgar and are completely contrary to the Navy's Core Values. I'll leave it to you to search for the videos but I suggest you spare yourself. Anyway, I read an editorial today that speaks to this and gives a point of view about what leadership is that resonated with me.

Wannabe a blogger

- or at least be more effective with sharing things with my family.

A bit about the "Accomplished Wannabe" title. There have been a number of things i've wanted to become over my life. Many have been attempted but few actually accomplished. Lately i've had a desire to play a musical instrument, speak a foreign language, read scriptures regularly, and be more fit. My problem is that I don't see the results I expect in the time I hope and the desire wanes. Not different from many I imagine but...

So last night I went to my daughter, Carly's, high school choir concert and filmed the performance. She had a couple of solos and sang so well - I am very proud and had to share it with others thus my first blog entry.
By the way, she's the first singer in the clip below.
